Brief note on functions of the Asst. Director of Mines & Geology Office,Visakhapatnam.
In Visakhapatnam District, mining and quarry operations are being regulated by two offices viz., the Asst. Director of Mines & Geology, Visakhapatnam and Asst. Director of Mines & Geology, Anakapalli under the control of the Dy. Director of Mines and Geology, Visakhapatnam. The jurisdiction of ADMG, Visakhapatnam is over 22 Mandals.

This office looks after promotional and regulatory functions for overall development of mineral sector and also collection of mineral revenue to the State Exchequer i.e. processing of Mineral Concession applications for leasing out of mineral bearing areas.
This office processes Minor Mineral Concession applications received through Mee Seva from the entrepreneurs for grant of minerals. After proper scrutiny and receipt of No Objection Certificate from Revenue/ Forest, then conducting survey and inspection on the area and then necessary proposals will be submitted for grant of various minerals. LOI will be issued to the prospective applicant to submit Approved Mining Plan, together with Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Mines, CFO from APPCB for the proposed quarrying in the applied area. Then final grant order will be issued by the granting authority.
